Abstract
In our podcast, we wanted to address some of the problems that occur between the police and community and find out what people on both sides are doing to fix those problems. Every year there are reports about police officers using excessive force to bring down suspects, with serious consequences that can lead to death or severe injuries to the subject with few repercussions coming to police officers. Minorities in communities all over the United States have faced intense discrimination and profiling when it comes their interactions with police officers. Low income communities face problems with police officers because of their increased drug use and crime. We then discussed the programs and solutions that are being implemented by communities all over the United States in hope of decreasing the tense relationships between law enforcement and individuals in a community. Finally we examined how effective these programs were and how the type of community can affect where these programs are implemented. Our goal is to have our audience gain a different perspective to the various aspects of police community relations and better viewpoint of why they happen.
