Design of 3-Dimensional AE/MS Transducer Arrays-Theory and Strategy
Abstract
Mechanisms of array geometry in the control of source location accuracy are described as well as the strategy for planning three-dimensional arrays, the diagnosis of an array weakness, and the design of control transducer pairs. The possibility of using a relatively shallow transducer array to monitor a target structure located at a significant depth is examined. It is assumed in the present paper that the source location procedure is based on the arrival-time-difference approach.
