A Statistical Method for Evaluation of AE/MS Source Location Accuracy and Transducer Array Geometry
Abstract
A statistical method for evaluation of AE/MS source location accuracy and transducer array geometry has recently been developed at the Penn State Rock Mechanics Laboratory. This paper first focuses on the basic considerations involved in the development of this method. The suitability of this method is then examined with real data obtained from a detailed calibration source location study. Finally several problems concerning the proper use of this method are discussed.
