Turn-Around-Point Long-Period Fiber Gratings Fabricated by CO₂ Laser Point-by-Point Irradiations
Abstract
High order mode long-period fiber gratings (LPFGs) were fabricated for the first time, to our knowledge, by point-by-point CO2 laser irradiations. With this method, turn-around-point LPFGs working in various circumstances can be easily fabricated by adjusting the inscription period. Effects of fabrication parameters on the characteristics of the resulted LPFGs have been studied. Tenth-order LPFGs have been fabricated and demonstrated for temperature sensing.
