Abstract
As part of their Energy Research and Development Program, the Bureau of Mines is developing an experimental oil shale mine facility in the central Piceance Creek Basin of northwestern Colorado.
This paper describes the results of their exploration program and hydrological investigation, the preliminary mine layout, and plans for the large-diameter bored shaft.
