Abstract
In an effort to improve photovoltaic and hot water collection performance and appeal, an integrated system of the two were recently designed and tested for the University of Missouri Rolla Solar House Team. This design and research were done with a group of solar house team members and an advisor with conjunction to the Solar Decathlon.
This paper describes the performance of the "Hybrid System". It will be installed on the University of Missouri Rolla Solar House and will be part of the 2005 Solar Decathlon. The system was designed to provide more electric and heat gain per roof area, melt snow off of solar panels in the winter to increase performance, and increase homeowners appeal to solar energy.
