A Matrix Description of Multiple Scattering at 90˚
Abstract
Matrix elements are presented which are proposed to represent the characteristics of scatter in a plane at 90˚ to an incident polarized laser beam. The cases considered include five particle sizes (1.24,0.494, p.36,0.123, and 0.065 μ), two concentrations (0.0025 and 0.005% by volume), and three detector depths (0,1.5, and 3 cm into the scattering volume). For this limited data, it appears that the elements of the normalized matrix ldepend primarily upon particle size. In fact a difference 'occurs between 0.123 μ and the 0.36 μ particles for several matrix elements.
