Condensation Of Refrigerant-oil Mixtures On Horizontal Tubes
Abstract
The condensation heat transfer of oil-refrigerant mixtures on the outside of horizontal, copper tubes was experimentally investigated. A test apparatus was designed and constructed to condense oil-refrigerant mixtures. The apparatus used a constant pressure boiling and condensing system with oil sprayed into the condensing refrigerant vapour over the test surface. Experimentally measured values of the condensing heat transfer coefficients were measured for various oil concentrations, test surfaces and operating conditions. The condensation of pure refrigerant on the smooth test surface was in agreement with the predicted results and previous experimentally measured values. At oil concentrations of 6-7%, the effect of the oil became greater than predicted. © 1981.
