CLM - a New Technique for Refractories
Abstract
Cathodoluminescence microscopy (CLM), a standard technique for studying geological materials for 20 years has been introduced just recently by the Department of Ceramic Engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla to the refractories industries and other refractories research centers. Thus, CLM is considered a new technique in refractories research. This report reviews existing cathodoluminescence (CL) microscopic and spectroscopic techniques and demonstrates the uniqueness of its application to refractory materials.
