Abstract
"The radiation equations for a simple rectangular slot antenna are derived as a function of the field distribution in the slot. The electric field distribution in the slot is then formulated as a function of the aperture dimensions. The U-shaped slot antenna is described as an extension of the rectangular slot theory and the actual field is measured in the slot for comparison.
The far field equations a.re derived for the U-slot antenna similar to those for the rectangular slot antenna and are evaluated using the formulated distributions in the slot for antennas of two different electrical sizes. The equations are plotted and compared with measured patterns"-- Abstract, p. ii
