Abstract

"This paper will consider vector and matrix representations for several polyalphabetical substitution ciphers. Classical ciphers such as the Vigenère, the True Beaufort, the Variant Beaufort, and the autokey will be included. We shall also discuss ways to mathematically vary a substitution cipher. In addition, we shall employ our mathematical representations to decipher a fixed matrix substitution cipher"--Abstract, p. ii
