Multi-Attribute Decision Model using Analytic Hierarchy Process for Vendor Selection
Abstract
The Just-in-time (JIT) approach mandates a healthy vendor-vendee relationship. Ansari et. al. (1986) have identified poor vendor support, followed by inadequate understanding and commitment by top management in the purchasing company, as the two most crucial problems associated with the implementation of JIT. Thus, vendor selection is a very crucial decision faced by the company's management. This paper identifies the attributes required by the vendor selection problem. Based on these attributes, a multi-attributes decision model using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for the vendor selection problem has been developed.
