Proton Adsorption onto Alumina: Extension of Multisite Complexation (MUSIC) Theory
Abstract
The adsorption isotherm of protons onto a commercial γ-alumina sample was determined in aqueous nitric acid with sodium nitrate as a background electrolyte. Three discrete regions could be discerned in the log-log plots of the proton isotherm determined at the solution pH 5 to 2. The multisite complexation (MUSIC) model was modified to analyze the simultaneous adsorption of protons onto various kinds of surface species.
