Coatings R&D Notebook
Abstract
The steps that should be taken to improve flow and leveling in small imperfections and scratches during painting are discussed. Flow and leveling can be improved through rheological modification and the use of serface tension modifiers. The use of thixotropes can help allow better flow with less slag, which in turn allow the use of shear to decrease viscosity initially but allow viscosity to build when shearing ends. The probelms related to the choice of coatings that are appropriate for high temperatures, and judging of foam stability are also discussed.
