Experimental Studies Of Single Droplet Liquid Extraction With Chemical Reaction
Abstract
Experimental data were obtained for the diffusion of a solute from the continuous phase into droplets falling in a single streani though a simple spray extractor. The solute reacted inside the dispersed phase by means of a second‐order reaction. The high droplet Reynolds numbers encountered necessitated the use of modifications of film and penetration approaches to arrive at methods for predicting single droplet extraction with reaction. The evaluation of the interfacial concentration was a special problem in this study. Copyright © 1975 Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering
