Abstract

Many different parameters of a trickle bed reactor have been studied in an air-water cocurrent system. A trickle bed reactor with a fixed packed bed was used to produce the needed results. Parameters such has liquid holdup, pressure drop, flow regimes and flow regime transition were studied on a macroscale. The local liquid holdup in the particle pores are to be studied on a microscale as well as the gas-liquid interaction surrounding the particles. The performance of the reactor is directly related to these parameters as they will give insight to which conditions are most efficient to needed performance.
