Abstract

Worldwide, poverty is one of the biggest problems we face. More people than we expect are suffered from extreme poverty. This research is motivated by the need to study the microfinance programs that reduce poverty in developing countries by targeting the poorest members of society and the impact they make.

I selected one country as my research target, which is Mexico. Mexico is the one of poor developing countries in the world. Even though it has a better economic situation than others, Mexico still has many problems which result from poverty. In this project, I covered the economic background of Mexico and some poverty problems, and finally showed some preliminary results from how well the microfinance program works in Mexico.
