The Atomic Structure of BiFeO₃
Abstract
The atomic positions in perovskitic BiFeO3 were determined using X-ray single crystal diffraction and neutron powder diffraction. The space group is R3c, the rhombohedral unit cell containing 2 formula units of BiFeO3. Antiferroelectricity is not permitted in this structure, but ferroelectricity is possible, although the electrical coercive field may be very high. © 1969.
