Effect of Specimen Size on the Impact Properties of a Pressure Vessel Weld Material
Abstract
A new methodology was developed for correlating the upper shelf energies (USE) of full size and subsize specimens of a pressure vessel weld material A533 Grade B Class I. The methodology worked well in predicting the USE of full size specimens based on half size and third size specimen data. the predicted values of full size USE were within 6% of the measured values.
