Development of a Water Jet Mining Machine for Coal Extraction
Abstract
Among the advantages of water jet mining are that there is no dust associated with the mining production, particularly with the high productivity mining machines currently being used underground; and that the water removes the spark problem from the cutting surface. The paper discusses development of such a machine, including basic machine design, cutter head design, drive mechanisms, nozzles, and others.
