Industry-Wide Trend toward All-Hydraulically Powered Rock Drill
Abstract
Different types of all-hydraulic rock drills are compared for efficiency. In the last two decades drilling productivity has risen by 300 percent, and in the next few years another 200 percent rise could occur in the drilling and blasting phase of hard rock mining. It is only a matter of efficient management. Comparing 5 types of home foreign manufactured drills, specifications, capacities, and efficiency, the conclusion is that all of the all-hydraulic drills are more mechanically efficient and have a lower total specific energy than all of the pneumatic or partially pneumatic drills.
