Coal's Role in Sustaining Society
Abstract
The mining industry is growing but the recruitment of new miners is difficult because of the industry's past and continuing image problems about workforce issues, environmental damage and community issues. Fortunately as the industry expands in the 21st century, the stigma is being reversed. the industry is now approaching sustainable development in consonance with sustainable development principles. in line with this, the importance of coal in every country's economic development is now more appreciated. overall, those who work at mines or supporting operations are sustaining the massive US economy, are nurturing communities and workers and are strong stewards of the environment.
