Conventional and Innovative Mining and Excavation
Abstract
In discussing the excavation methods that are necessary to clean-up the environmental waste from DOE facilities in the USA, the need for Remote Operation is paramount. When reviewing Excavation Technology needs, it was agreed that a substantial amount of technology is currently available from the mining and construction industries. However, no equipment is immediately adaptable one-on-one to the current waste clean-up requirements. There is strong evidence that the existing equipment used in the mining and construction industries is adaptable if minor customizing and/or re-working is carried out.
