Thermodynamic Method of Rock Durability
Abstract
The process of a rock's destruction has been assumed as an irreversible phase tran.6fion of defects from solid solution into gaseous phase. A formula for a rock's long-term durability has been derived on an irreversible thermodynamic basis. The practical evaluation of the durability uses a special procedure of the triaxial rock test.
