Continuous or Cyclical Surface Mining - the Future

Abstract

The paper discusses recent developments related to both the continuous and the cyclical surface mining. the rapid pace of the latter makes the cyclical mining systems a primary choice in most mines. to maintain its position the continuous mining systems are in a need of major technical and technological breakthroughs. Some of the potential breakthroughs are identified in the paper.
