Structure of Hydrogen-Air Counterflow Diffusion Flames Obtained by Focusing Schlieren, Shadowgraph, PIV, Thermometry, and Computation
Abstract
Laminar fuel-air counterflow diffusion flames (CFDFs) were previously studied using axisymmetric convergent-nozzle and straight-tube opposed jet burners (OJBs) and selected diagnostic techniques. Strain-induced extinction limits (flame strength) were determined for N2-diluted H2 versus clean air, and also H2 versus contaminated-air, to assess" possible effects of air contaminants from test facilities on flameholding processes in H2-fueled supersonic airbreathing combustors.
