Mining Technology

Alternative Title

An overview

Abstract

According to the author, the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act should be suitably amended to provide a corporate incentive to the mining industry to plan the mines with a view to bring about a change in the environment management concepts with particular reference to reclamation of mined land. Unless this is done, no amount of legislative measure alone will be able to place the large scale opencast mining in coal, lignite and other minerals, in a position to make a meaningful contribution to the economy despite introduction of the latest hardware. The present trend if carried forward to the 21st century, which starts only 12 years from now, will retard economic growth.
