MacPherson Strut Kinematics
Abstract
The MacPherson strut automotive suspension is modeled as a three-dimensional kinematic mechanism. Developed are a linearized position analysis and a nonlinear position analysis. The results of these analyses are compared for a representative geometry. Also developed for the mechanism are a velocity analysis and an acceleration analysis.
