Emittance of an Isothermal, Isotropically Scattering Medium

Abstract

Asymptotic expressions are presented for the directional and hemispherical emittances of an isothermal, isotropically scattering medium which are useful for large optical thickness and large albedo, and for small optical thickness and small albedo. The expressions for the hemispherical emittance are the most accurate.
