Transversely Isotropic Medium with Lined Hole
Abstract
An elasticity solution is presented for a semiâ€infinite transversely isotropic medium having a circular cylindrical hole with an elastic lining. The lining is analyzed as an orthotropic shell. The general solution obtained is specialized for the cases of rigid lining and no lining. Numerical results are presented for these two cases for different sets of anisotropic clastic constants valid for soil. The solution can also be reduced to the case of an isotropic medium (with or without lining) and some typical results obtained for this case without lining are compared with the available results.
