Stress Analysis of Pyramidal Hipped Plate Structure
Abstract
The stresses in a wall of a thin walled pyramidal unit have been determined using two-dimensional photoelastic technique. The single wall of the pyramidal unit is considered as a trapezoidal deep beam loaded along its shorter parallel edge and supported along the longer parallel edge. Transverse and shear stress distributions at mid and quarter span respectively have been given for beams having different base width to height ratios and side slopes.
