Abstract
A benchmark heat transfer problem involving the laminar two- dimensional flow over a backward facing step has been defined. Eleven papers were submitted in which this benchmark problem was solved; nine authors contributed numerical results for the comparisons presented here. Some authors submitted results from more than one code. This paper presents the comparative summary reults without any comments on which is the “right” answer. For details of the computational algorithms used by the various authors, refer to their papers presented in this volume.
