A Parametric Study on the Design of Multi-Body Systems with Elastic Members
Abstract
A generic design procedure for multi-body systems with elastic members is presented in this paper. The important parameters which affect the stress, displacement, and natural frequency of a multi-body system can be closely related based on this parametric study. An approach using these relations to obtain the optimal design of multi-body systems subject to stress, displacement and natural frequency constraints is also described. Examples using this approach to design flexible mechanisms are demonstrated.
