Knowledge-Based System for Designing Pcb with High Speed and High Frequency Circuit
Abstract
We propose a knowledge-based system to meet the requirements and constraints of PCB design for high speed and high frequency application. The interconnect lines in the circuit boards have TRL (transmission line) effects and the signal crosstalk due to the high speed and high frequency signal propagation (approaching 100Mhz and even higher). This forces the designer to consider the circuit design and the fabrication/assembly process together. Based upon a same database, we link the CAD/CAE system which handles the high speed problems and the CAPP (computer aided process planning) system which plans the PCB assembly process, so as to meet the special requirements of electrical performance and concern of costs/reliability.
