Graphical Synthesis Technique for Small-Crank Linkages for Harmonic Motion Generation
Abstract
Some basic linkages with relatively small cranks have been known to generate approximate simple harmonic motions at the output members. This body of knowledge relating to theory and design of small-crank linkages has been well documented. The nonlinear equations involving the output kinematic quantities and the design parameters have been solved for varied synthesis problems. This paper exemplifies an analytical solution of one such synthesis problem for a crank-rocker linkages, and evolves a graphical procedure to this end.
