Abstract
Microstructural development of melt textured YBa2Cu3O7-x and BaZrO3 composites was investigated. Melt texturing by continuous undercooling resulted in macrosegragation of nanosized BaZrO3 particles (= 70 nm) at the solid-liquid interface during solidification. Processing at higher solididification rates through large undercooling of a semisolid sample was proposed to trap nanosized particles within the textured YBa2Cu3O7-x phase.
