Effect of Deoxidizers on the Cleanliness of Gas Cylinder Steels in the LF Refining Process
Abstract
The current study investigated the effect of using two different deoxidizers in the LF refining process on content of oxygen and sulfur and the composition of inclusions in the gas bottle steels. using Si-Ca-Ba-Mg-Sr alloy as a deoxidizer in the LF refining process, the active oxygen and sulfur in the molten steel are a litter higher, but the different deoxidizers affected little on the T. O., and the T. O. were controlled below 12x10-6; the inclusions of alumina and Al2O3-CaO in the billet are also decreased, while increased sulfides. But the yield of Si-Ca-Ba-Mg-Sr alloy as a deoxidizer should be improved in the future studies.
