Analysis and Simulation on the Secondary Cooling during Steel Bloom Continuous Casting
Abstract
The mathematical model on the heat transfer and solidification of steel bloom continuous casting process has been developed. the prediction by the current model agrees well with the industrial measurement. the outputs of the model include the mean temperature of the cross section, the center line temperature of the wide face and the narrow face, the shell thickness. the model can be used to optimize the cooling design, such as adjusting nozzle layout, the length of different cooling sections, and the flow rate of the cooling water. the defects of the bulging and the depression have been eliminated after the cooling optimization.
