Electrical Conductivity in Nanocrystalline ZrO2:Y
Abstract
The electrical conductivity of nanocrystalline thin films and bulk microcrystalline ZrO2:16%Y (YSZ) has been studied as a function of oxygen activity and correlated with the microstructure. Nanocrystalline films are characterized by enhanced conductivity and different stoichiometry compared with microcrystalline specimens. The interpretation of the results is based on a defect pair association model with partly ionizated acceptor and donor centers.
