Computer programme for optimising batch calculations
Abstract
The technique of linear programming has been applied to batch calculation problems and a general purpose programme suitable for a personal computer, incorporating the periodic table and empirical rules, has been developed. The general algorithm is explained with examples. The optimisations include considerations of total cost and some thermodynamic considerations. Some applications for determining the equilibrium solid phases are also discussed.
