Corrosion Resistance of Refractory Bond Phases to Steam-CO at 199 Degree C
Abstract
The effect of a steam - CO atmosphere at 3. 2 MPa (465 psia) and 199 degree C on the bond phases in a dense phosphate-bonded alumina castable and a dense fired alumina was evaluated from changes in flexural strength, weight and dimensions and by X-ray diffraction and DTA/TGA. Corrosion of the ceramic bond in the fired alumina was indicated by an approximately equals 30% reduction in strength.
