Phase Equilibria Diagrams of Three Components - Reactions and Crystallization
Abstract
In the last installment of Phase Rules [1] considerable time was devoted to the relationship between two and three component systems. One of the critical aspects of true binary systems was that they were required to lie upon an alkemade line. These alkemade lines are significant in other ways, and the issues associated with them will be addressed first in this installment. A rendering of the magnesia-alumina- silica (MAS) diagram is included as Figure 1.
