On Mahavier Products
Abstract
It was agreed by some at the 2012 Spring Topology and Dynamics Conference that the name "Inverse limit with upper semi-continuous bonding functions" should be replaced with a shorter name "Mahavier product". We generalize further by replacing directed set with an arbitrary pre-ordered set. We will present some basic properties of this new concept as well as some examples and applications. In particular, we show that inverse limits, Cartesian products, and arbitrary intersections are special cases of the Mahavier product.
