Mathematical Justification of Two Reduced Models for Salt Fingering Convection
Abstract
We provide a rigorous proof of the validity of the modified Rayleigh–Bénard convection (MRBC) model from the classical doubly diffusive convection model at the regime of large Lewis number and order one Rayleigh ratio, and the inertial free salt convection model (IFSC) from the MRBC at the sublimit regime with a large Schmidt number.
