The Infinite Schmidt Number Limit of the Salt Fingering Convection Model and the Inertial Free Salt Convection Model
Abstract
We show that the large Schmidt number limit with fixed Prandtl number and Rayleigh number ratio of the salt convection model is exactly the inertial free salt convection model (IFSC). the limit is a singular one, with simultaneous perturbation in both the velocity and temperature field, and the rigorous mathematical justification involves two-time scale expansion.
