Abstract
"This study is to analyze continuous open channels used for fluid flow and supported on soil which is considered to provide an elastic foundation. The basic assumption is that the reaction forces of the foundation are proportional at every point to the deflection of the channel at that point. The walls of the channel are considered vertical in all cases but are subjected to various lateral pressures due to different embankment loading conditions"-- Abstract, p. ii
