Abstract
"This work is a presentation of the findings of an experimental measurement of stiffness (El) for reinforced and nonreinforced lightweight and normal concrete. The experimental values of stiffness are compared with values obtained using standard reinforced concrete theory. In all, thirty beams, fifteen for lightweight and fifteen for normal concrete, each having the compressive strength of approximately 4, 500 psi, were tested. In addition to stiffness measurements, a relationship was obtained between the dynamic modulus of elasticity and the ultimate compressive strength at various ages for the particular lightweight concrete used"--Abstract, page ii.
