Abstract

"This work presents an analysis of space frames and planar frames loaded in different planes by the method of moment distribution and the theory of superposition. From this analysis it is found that the torsional stiffness of frame members has a great effect on the final bending moments when twisting moments are applied to the frame. The analysis of space frames considering the forces, stresses, and moments in all three dimensions always yields a design more accurate and economical in material than the traditional planar frame analysis"--Abstract, p. i
