"The research efforts described in this thesis were aimed at development of a compact smoke generator which could be used obscurance for individual vehicle in form of the vehicle engine exhaust smoke system [VEESS]. The research focused on design and evaluation of an oil fired burner which could either serve as an ancillary heat and gas source to the vehicle engine exhaust system or be used as a compact stand alone smoke generator"--Abstract, page iii.
