Abstract
"The use of high-pressure water as a tool for cutting coal is discussed. A proposed longwall coal mining machine utilizing oscillating water jets to cut coal is presented. Apparatus for experimentation using high pressure water involving single and dual oscillating jets was designed, constructed, and tested. The design of the cutting head for the proposed mining machine is considered"-- Abstract, p. ii
